Getting back on the Work Wagon

We have jumped off for a little while now, but we are getting back on the Work Wagon for our house. We spent a few hours out there on Sunday and Monday this week - but will be out there for most of the day Saturday and Sunday this weekend. We are still moving dirt - getting the footings and elevation where they're supposed to be so we can layout the formwork for the concrete. I'll be sure to bring my camera out, so you can watch the action. It's really not that exciting, but it beats no picture at all. We hope to get the form boards in place, run the underground plumbing, prepare the rebar and visqueen, get it all inspected and place the slab by the end of May. I hope this goes as scheduled, as everything is already taking longer than planned. But, we still plan on finishing the house this fall.

On a happy note, baby Andrew came home from the hospital yesterday and he's all better. Praise God for watching over him and his family.

Another Week

Well, another week has flown by . . . The renter fell through, so we'll be staying in our condo awhile longer. I took my exam - I will find out if I passed in 12 weeks, so that's lame. I think I did okay, but it was pretty hard so I'm not confident. Last weekend was a lot of fun spending time with some college friends. We haven't done much with the land this week.

Our friends, Bryan & Ellen Boyer, had a little boy on Monday, April 14th. His name is Andrew David Boyer and he weighed 7 lb 11 oz. He has been through quite a rough week and is still being monitored at the hospital. We have been spending some time with Bryan & Ellen while they've been waiting at the hospital. Andrew is improving, but he's not out of the clear yet. Please pray for him and his family.

We have ordered some plumbing and rebar (for the foundation) this week for our house. We have another busy weekend coming up, so I don't know how much we'll get to work on it. That's all the updates I have for now.

Busy, Busy

We have been keeping pretty busy lately. Adam has been out to the land here and there, getting the foundation level and trying to recapture his thoughts on what needs to happen next - apparently, the cruise has left his mind blank. The big discovery of the week: Adam found our Sanitary line! This is late in coming, but at least we know where to look now.

We may of found a renter for our condo. I have been posting adds to sell it on craigslist.com, and someone called asking if we'd be interested in renting it out! So, we made her an offer and we'll see what comes of it. There is a chance we'd be moving out at the end of this month!

I have been preparing for the Fundamentals of Engineering exam - which I take tomorrow. It is an 8-hour exam covering everything I learned in college. I graduated three years ago, so relearning all this stuff hasn't been too fun, but I feel prepared. This is a preliminary test to becoming a Professional Engineer - I still need a couple more years of experience, recommendations, and take another exam.

Adam is having a reunion with some of his college buddies and their families this weekend, so I'll meet up with him in Gainesville Saturday night. The point of all of this is we're gone another weekend and won't be getting much work done on our land. Hopefully we'll kick it into gear soon and make some good progress. Until, then . . . Back from the Cruise

We made it back from our 4-Night Disney cruise this morning. Adam and I headed straight back to work and will start work on the house again this weekend. As you can see in the picture above, my sister and I met Captain Jack Sparrow! He just happened to be roaming Castaway Cay, Disney's private island. We had a great time on the cruise - ate way too much and got too much sun - and we're now trying to get caught up on life where we left it last week . . . until next time.
