We have a brick house!! The brick masons have been laying brick all week and the house looks great! They are working much quicker than we anticipated, which is always a nice surprise. After Monday, they had laid 3 – 5 feet of brick around almost the entire perimeter of the house.
The left side of the house has about 5’ of brick along the wall. They left out the area just below the windows – they are going back to put the trim pieces of brick at the end.
They leave a one inch air gap between the brick and house wrap.
Here’s the right side of the house.After Tuesday, they had completed a few of the walls, as well as one of the gable ends.
The left side of the house is complete and the garage has brick around it. See the change in color of the mortar? The light color is from Monday, it’s dry. The dark color is the work performed Tuesday, the mortar is still wet.
The right side of the house is further along.
The back gable end is complete and they started the brick around the porch. Adam put brick mold around the doors – ain’t it pretty?
The back of the house is getting really close!Wednesday, they completed everything but two gable ends and below the windows. Wow!
This is what the house looked like yesterday. They stood the brick up on end over the garage, I like that.
Adam and I put the meter box on the house Tuesday night and they bricked around it Wednesday. Chris helped us out by putting flashing around it for us on Wednesday – thanks!

The back of the master suite. And, how sweet it is.The brick masons have been working all day today as well. I imagine they have everything about finished, but I didn't get a chance to go by the house. They will be doing a cleaning of the brick when it is complete. We are very pleased with their work. I think the brick color and mortar work well together. What do you think?
