A different kind of plumbing

God graciously answered my prayers to keep the rain away this weekend. We did not get rained out at all! Friday, we put up the header between the foyer and living room. It was pretty heavy, but we got it up and in place.

Here's what the house looks like, as of Saturday morning:

Saturday, we fixed the header of the pocket door between the bedroom and bathroom.

We put up some of the top top plates, with the use of a scaffold. The view is pretty neat from there, check it out:

This is our backyard. It includes the fence corner, but stops at the left of the small tree about 20 feet from the corner. It's by far the biggest lot in the neighborhood.

We also added the jack studs (the 2x4s under the beam) to several of the windows. This makes them look much more complete.

Sunday, we finished adding cripples above the windows and then set to plumbing the exterior walls. This basically means to get the walls straight up, at a 90-degree angle. I didn't snap any pictures of this, as I was needed during the process. It involved a 6'-6" level, a l5' push board, and lots of braces. Here's some of the braces we put in, to hold the walls where we want them.

We will continue to plumb and align the walls this week. We will then finish the top top plates and put a few more finishing touches. We plan on getting a partial inspection before the floor trusses go up. This should confirm we are on the right track. We're getting there!

On a side note, I played in a company softball game the other weekend. I have never played softball before, but got roped into signing up on a team. Anyway, I would just like to say that I scored a run and made the game winning hit! I don't know if it's luck, cause I don't think it was skill . . . but, my team won and it was pretty fun. Here's me warming up before my winning hit.
