Storm Survival

We survived the storm . . . with no real damage! Fay did not progress into a hurricane, but stayed a tropical storm. She did, however, stay on track and hit Jacksonville on Thursday and Friday. The sustained winds were around 40 mph and we had gusts of 60 mph. I stayed home on Friday because the winds were so bad. This was the worst bit of damage in our condo neighborhood:

An oak tree snaped about 10 feet front the ground and fell onto a picnic table. The top of the tree hit the parking lot, thankfully there weren't any cars beneath it.

There were also some large branches that fell near our house. Thankfully, they stayed near the fence.

This is from our next door neighbor's sweet gum tree.

We worked on our house for a few hours yesterday. We finished all the floor trusses that we were able to do without the beams in place. Since the beams have been sitting on the ground for a month and a half, we are ordering new beams (free of charge, because they dropped them off early and refused to pick them up). We should finish the beams and remaining floor trusses this week. Here's our current progress:

Our house is getting a ceiling, yay!

The floor trusses over the garage. Those were HEAVY!

Trusses next to the stair well.

Dining Room floor trusses.

Setting floor trusses in the kitchen.

We have really come a long way with the floor trusses. Once we get the beams and remaining floor trusses in place, we'll place the sub flooring. Can't wait to let some of our wood dry out!
