Putting my parents to work

My parents drove up from Orlando to help us out with our house on Saturday & Sunday. They hadn't seen it since it was dirt, so they enjoyed the progress. We continued to align the walls and brace them . . . this was a little tricky to figure out at first, but we got there eventually.

Here's my dad nailing together a channel to connect two exterior walls. I was standing on it to keep the bow in the board down.

Adam put a string line along the garage wall to see if the wall is straight . . . it wasn't.

See, I can use a saw!

After we finally got the walls aligned, we started doing the top-top plates. Adam's nailing the plate off, while my dad moves the board in the right place and my mom is there to hand Adam what he needs.

My mom is enjoyed the view from up there . . and the breeze - it's HOT!

Brian came out for a couple hours on Sunday to check out our work on plumbing and aligning the walls. We were good for the most part - the main thing he helped us with was the garage.

This is the "spider" that Brian built to align the garage walls. You can't shoot nails into the finished concrete, so we made wood supports.

We were able to get the top-top plates on for half the house!

Check out our work.

Thanks for helping, Mom & Dad!!

And thank you to Brian, for your help.

We hope to move in before too long . . .
